As a Qualified Teacher and working in a variety of children's settings for twenty years I have found that therapeutic processes can be as valuable and productive as any other methods. Children have such wonderful imaginations which makes hypnotherapy a fantastic tool to help address issues of;-
bed wetting,
low self esteem,
bullying,
anger management,
exams,
poor eating habits,
poor behaviour,
thumb sucking
hair pulling
poor sleep habits
lack of confidence
stammering
Hypnosis is often even helpful in areas which may surprise you such as;-
Dyslexia
Hypnotherapy has helped me to overcome my concerns of having dyslexia, especially as a teacher, half the battle is over now I know how to tackle those that don't understand what dyslexia means:)
Tourette Syndrome
Selective Mutism
What happens in a session?
The first part consists of a chat to find out what your child doesn't like about the problem situation as it is and check out how they would prefer to be thinking, feeling and behaving instead. The main focus is on the solution rather than the problem. The sceond part is the lightly hypnotic relaxation with gentle yet powerful positive suggestions.
Can I attend the session with my child?
Yes, certainly you are very welcome to be in the therapy room if your child is more comfortable with you there.
Nonetheless, my focus is on talking directly to your child rather than yalking about them as can sometimes happen i other situations.
How do children respond?
Children are great to work with because they are imaginative and haven't usually seen misleading stage shows which give a mistaken impression of what hypnosis really is.
